Editorial policy and disclaimer
General information only
CanDo Loans publishes educational information about how loans and finance products work in Australia. Everything on this site is general in nature. It does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs, and it is not financial, credit, tax or legal advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to apply for, or to avoid, any particular product or provider.
We are not a broker or lender
CanDo Loans is an independent publisher. We are not a bank, lender, credit provider, finance broker, credit assistance provider or financial adviser. We do not arrange, offer, recommend or facilitate any loan or credit product, we hold no Australian Credit Licence for such activities, and we earn nothing from any loan you may take out. There is no application, quote or lead form on this site.
No advice relationship
Reading this site does not create an advisory, professional or client relationship. Any decision you make after reading our content is your own. Before acting on anything you read here, you should consider whether it is appropriate for you and seek advice from a suitably licensed professional.
Accuracy and currency
We take care to be accurate and to cite reputable sources, including the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Reserve Bank of Australia and ASIC Moneysmart, and we date our pages so you can see how current they are. Even so, interest rates, fees, features and lending criteria change frequently and vary between providers. Figures and examples are illustrative and may be out of date. Always confirm the current terms directly with the relevant provider and read the applicable product disclosure documents.
Calculators and estimators
Any calculators on this site are simplified learning tools that run entirely in your browser. They make assumptions, such as a fixed rate and equal repayments, and they ignore fees, comparison rates and balloon payments. Their results are estimates for education only, not quotes, offers or promises of finance.
External links
We link to third-party websites, such as government services, because they are useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or accuracy. A link is not an endorsement.
Getting real help
If you need guidance on your own circumstances, the Australian Government provides free, independent information and calculators at moneysmart.gov.au. For help arranging a specific loan, speak with a licensed credit provider or adviser. If you are struggling with debt, free financial counselling is available through the National Debt Helpline.
